Otay vs Paired

Last checked: October 21, 2026, against each app’s own website and App Store listing.

Paired and Otay both send a couple one small thing a day. Paired's is a question to talk about, written with relationship experts. Otay's is a photo quest to notice something together. Paired is the stronger choice if you want guidance on your relationship; Otay is for keeping a record of it.

In their words: Paired describes itself as a mobile app to help couples feel closer every day through quick 5-minute activities such as questions, relationship quizzes and couple games. Otay: Otay is a private photo journal app for two people, on iPhone. Every day both of you get the same small photo quest and answer it with a back-camera photo and a selfie, a caption and a place, and your two answers sit side by side in a shared journal only the two of you can see, with a photo calendar, a map, throwbacks, a kind streak map, a wardrobe for your two little characters and Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

We make Otay. We have tried to be fair, and every fact about Paired below comes from the sources listed at the end. If something is out of date, tell us at hi@otay.app and we will fix it.

Paired is the better pick if

  • You want guided relationship questions, quizzes and games written with therapists.
  • You want to work on something specific, like communication, conflict, money or intimacy.
  • You like talking things through more than taking photos.
  • One of you uses Android.

Otay is the better pick if

  • You would rather notice the day together than answer questions about the relationship.
  • You want a photo journal you can look back on, with a calendar, a map and throwbacks.
  • You want something light that does not feel like homework.

The short version

Paired is the better pick for guided relationship questions and expert content, and it is far more established. Otay is the better pick if what you want is a shared photo record of your days, not a conversation about your relationship.
