The short version
We don't collect your data. All your memories — photos, captions, locations — live in your own iCloud, end-to-end encrypted, visible only to you and your partner. Otay the company cannot see them. We can't — there's nothing on our servers to see.
What we store
The only thing Otay stores about you, centrally, is your email address — and only if you join the waitlist at otay.app. We use it once, to tell you when your spot opens up. We don't sell it, trade it, or send you marketing. You can ask us to delete it anytime by emailing hi@otay.app.
What we don't do
- No third-party analytics, no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels.
- No ads, ever.
- No social features, no sharing outside your pair, no public profiles.
- No training on your photos or captions.
How the app works, technically
Otay is built on Apple's CloudKit. Your app data is stored in your own iCloud account. When you pair with your partner, Apple's CloudKit Sharing creates an encrypted shared zone between your two iClouds. We do not run a server that holds your data.
Hosting & aggregate metrics
The otay.app website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel collects anonymous request metrics (page views, response times) that we use to keep the site running. We use privacy-friendly product analytics (PostHog) to count page views and form submissions — no personal identifiers beyond an opaque session id.
