Terms

Otay is a small iOS app made carefully. Use it in good faith, don't abuse it. We provide it as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

Your licence

Otay is licensed, not sold, to you. Your use of Otay is governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which you can read here: Apple Standard EULA. The terms on this page are additional to it and specific to Otay.

Otay Premium and billing

Otay is free to use. Otay Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription, offered as a monthly or yearly plan, and starts with a 7-day free trial. One subscription covers both paired partners.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. Starting a paid subscription forfeits any unused portion of the free trial. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Billing, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms — we cannot process them directly.

Early-bird lifetime offer

The early-bird offer is a limited pre-launch promotion: a one-time payment of US$149, processed by Stripe (not Apple), in exchange for lifetime access to Otay Premium for one paired relationship. It is a single charge — not a subscription. Nothing auto-renews and you will not be charged again.

What it includes: all Otay Premium features for the life of the service — memories kept permanently (rather than the 30-day free-plan retention), HD watermark-free exports, all quest packs, camera styles, frames and widgets, and a cloud-storage allowance of up to 100 saved memories per month. One early-bird membership covers both paired partners, and Premium features we add in future are included at no extra cost.

Delivery: Otay has not yet launched. We estimate launch on iOS around July 2026 — a good-faith estimate, not a guaranteed date. Your access activates when the app launches, and we will email you with how to claim it. If launch is delayed, your purchase remains valid and your lifetime access still applies whenever the app ships.

“Lifetime” means for as long as Otay is operated as a service. If Otay is ever discontinued, lifetime access ends with the service; it is not a perpetual guarantee independent of the app continuing to exist.

Refunds: as a pre-launch supporter purchase, the early-bird payment is generally non-refundable once your slot is reserved. However, if the app is never launched, or if you request a refund within 14 days of purchase (and before launch), email hi@otay.app and we will refund you in full. By completing the purchase you confirm you have read and agree to these terms.

Your content

The photos, captions, and memories you create in Otay are yours. You grant Otay the limited permission needed to store and process that content so we can deliver the app to you and your paired partner — nothing more. We do not sell it, publish it, or train any model on it.

Acceptable use

Use Otay only with a partner who has agreed to share it with you. Don't upload content that is unlawful or that you don't have the right to share. Don't try to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or abuse the app.

Otay is built around trust between two people, and that only works if it stays safe. So this part is simple and firm: we have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. If someone uses Otay to hurt the person on the other side of it, we remove the content and end their account. No warnings, no strikes.

Never post, send, or share:

• Sexual content involving minors, in any form.
• Intimate images of anyone shared without their consent.
• Harassment, bullying, or anything meant to frighten or degrade someone.
• Threats of violence, or content that encourages violence or self-harm.
• Hate speech, or attacks on someone for who they are.
• Graphic or gratuitous violence.
• Content that is unlawful, or that promotes illegal activity.
• Impersonation, or pretending to be someone you are not.

Sexual content involving a minor is removed and reported to the authorities.

Reporting and moderation

Otay is private by design. Your memories are only ever visible to you and the one partner you paired with. There is no feed, no strangers, and nothing public. That means the only person who can send you something you did not want to see is the person you paired with, so the tools for that live right inside the app.

You can report any memory from inside the app, and you can block your partner from inside the app, which stops their content from reaching you. If you would rather write to us directly, email hi@otay.app.

Every report is read by a person and acted on within 24 hours. Acting on it can mean removing the content and terminating the account of whoever posted it. We would rather lose a user than leave someone on the receiving end of this.

Data, backups, and retention

Your memories are stored on Otay's backend (see our Privacy page for the details). On the free plan, photos and memories are kept for 30 days and then removed; with Otay Premium they are kept while your subscription is active. If data is important to you, save your memories to your own device — the app lets you do this at any time. We are not liable for loss of data caused by a provider outage, your account actions, or expiry under the retention rules above.

Ending your use of Otay

You can delete your account at any time from the Us tab in the app, which removes your account and memories from our servers. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

Accounts that post objectionable content, or that abuse another user, are terminated immediately and permanently. That happens without notice, and without a way back.

Changes

We may update the app and these terms from time to time. Meaningful changes will be announced on otay.app. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept it.
